The Story:

A voyage through grief by Breda

I hadn't intended reading this book just yet, having suffered a huge bereavement a month ago. I thought I should wait until I was in a better place but when it popped into my kindle , I couldn't resist. I think I was hoping that Amanda would show me a way through this suffocating grief. Sadly she couldn't do that as there are no magic answers or any shortcuts. I found this the hardest of Amanda's books to read but that is a testament to the power of her writing. She navigated us through the seas of despair, despondency, shock, blame, guilt and into the calmer waters of acceptance. I was with her every step of the way, recognising each stage of grief and totally empathising with the characters of the bereaved parents . The character of the housekeeper Cee Cee was beautifully drawn and I loved the employment of letters to unfold her story. Somehow , Amanda managed to give us hope despite the dark theme and lots of wisdom to guide us through the lonely country that is grief. Another triumph! Well done Amanda.
Amanda Prowse does it again, when you pick up this book prepare to have your heartbroken and to require many tissues.
I started this book knowing I have loved Amanda Prowse's other books but this book was on a whole other level and I didn't want to put it down.
You fall in love with the characters instantly and feel the many emotions they are experiencing throughout. The characters are vivid and you could clearly picture them as you got to know them on many levels as this wonderful read progressed.
This book totally broke my heart, left me with a horrendous book hangover but it was exceptional and I wish I could start this fresh all over again as it was another work of art and I loved every page
