A Note From Amanda:

Alcohol affects me very quickly and consequently I've never really drunk a lot. I am often amazed by how much some people can put away, with some getting paralytic and others seeming to be much better equipped to handle it. Seeing this at countless parties gave me the idea of looking at how someone 'ordinary' might become an alcoholic and what impact that might have on their family. My research for this book was truly shocking and writing the story completely changed the way that I look at alcoholism. I get more emails and correspondence about this book than any other, it is clearly an issue that is endemic in our society and my heart goes out to all of the brave women who I interviewed while researching the subject.
