The Story:

Everybody needs a little love in their lives...

Pru Plum is the celebrated owner of famous Mayfair bakery, Plum's Patisserie. She wears Chanel and her hair is expensively cut. Few would believe that this elegant woman turned sixty-six last year.

But Pru is not the confident, successful businesswoman she appears. She has done shameful things to get to where she is today. And she will do anything to protect the secrets of her past - especially when, for the first time in her life, she has finally fallen in love...

From bestselling author Amanda Prowse, this is a story about love, loss and lies... and finding happiness before it's too late.

A Note From Amanda:

Standalone or Series?

Standalone (but features some characters that appear in 'Christmas for One' so could be read first as a prequel).

Reader Reviews:

Pure decadence by Heather Smith

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 January 2014

I eagerly awaited this novel and when it arrived, we stayed together for an afternoon and two evenings until I reached the finale. And it was wonderful! This is a beautiful love story with an unconventional protagonist - a woman in her sixties with a slightly colourful past. Hooray for the more mature ladies! What I liked most was that just as I settled in to what seemed a straightforward story at the start, the author took me in an entirely unexpected direction with twists aplenty - the kind that make you have to keep turning pages and find out where it will all lead. All the ingredients of a great book. This is lovely and yes, there is lots of cake and I tasted all of them! I agree with a previous reviewer, this also reminded me of Joanne Harris's Chocolat and I felt in the writing there were shades of the wonderful foodie elements in Eat Pray Love. I love cake and I like a bit of romantic escapism so this was pure decadence - an indulgence for me. Time to myself, feet up, immersing myself in a gorgeous, love story from a wonderful story teller. A real treat. I was immersed - mystery, smooching, a happy ever after and CAKE. CAKE!!! Gorgeous literary escapism. Do it!! When does the film come out?

Amanda has done it again. Perfect story to curl up with a pot of tea and a biscuit (or 3).

Magnificently written as always, A little love just plucks you from your sofa and plonks down in the the smoke of the city. Pru and Milly are the type of crazy aunt you always wished you had. I must confess to crying at one point - try explaining to your husband why you are sobbing in to your kindle. All in all, if you are looking for something to spend your afternoon totally absorbed with a book, this is it.

I can promise you will both laugh and want to cry, you hart will break but also beat just a little bit faster in anticipation.
